You’re right, any entertainment while programming is distracting, even if you just keep it running as a background, it does “steal” a bit of your concentration. For me, the only thing that does not affect my concentration is music, it does in fact, helps me concentrate and disconnect from the world (and as I have ADHD, it is hard for me to disconnect).

I used a single monitor setup more than half of my profissional career, but when I stopped doing freelance work and started working at a startup company, I started using two monitors, and it was way better than single monitor setup, it helps me to keep focused in the code while being able to consult documentation without forgetting what I was searching for. So, when I started working from home, I bought a secondary monitor and felt more productive than using a single one.
